Google image search
Also known as: Google Lens
Google Image Search is a service offered by the search engine to search for specific images on the Internet. This functionality fulfills several objectives. Using Image Search via Google Lens, the search engine aims to offer the ability to easily understand the origin of images, discover the origin of an image or detect the misuse of photos. This service is also offered on websites such as Tineye and Yandex.
Using Google Image Search
Google Image Search can be used in several ways. A simple way is to drag an image to the search engine's search bar (Google Images). You can use an image from the browser for this, but also an image that is on your computer (for example, on your desktop or in another document). In addition, you can choose to search by the URL (the Internet address) of the image. Google Lens is used here to find similar images and display additional information. Special plug-ins have been developed for both Firefox and Chrome to make it even easier to use this application.
Where do you find this feature?
The Google Lens feature can be found on the right side of the search bar in Google. Clicking on the "camera icon" opens the Google Lens menu and you have the option to enter images or the URL of the image.
Mobile users can also choose to download the Google Lens app.
