A Web site is a collection of Web pages on the World Wide Web. The pages and other files needed to display the Web site are stored on a Web server that is continuously connected to the Internet.
Individual pages form a whole thanks to hyperlinks, which allow you to browse through the website. Internet sites usually have their own domain name and the pages within the site all have their own unique location(URL).
A Web site can have different purposes. There are websites that inform (think an online encyclopedia or a weblog), websites that allow visitors to communicate and share information (think a social networking site) and websites with a commercial purpose, such as a business website. When a website, in addition to providing information about a product, also offers the option of ordering items online, we are dealing with a web store.
