Consent mode v2
Also called: Google Consent Mode v2, cookie permission or consent settings
Consent mode v2 is the updated version of Google Consent Mode. This feature helps websites pass visitors' cookie consent to Google. This way Google knows what data it may or may not use for measurement, advertising and personalization.
In the first version, Google already worked with different parameters. Think consent for ad storage, analytics, functionality, personalization and security. With consent mode v2, two additional parameters have been added. These focus mainly on ad storage and user data.
New parameters within consent mode v2
The parameter ad_user_data determines whether user data may be sent to Google for online advertising. The ad_personalization parameter determines whether Google may show personalized ads. This gives the cookie banner a bigger role in your ad measurement and campaigns.
Consent mode v2 is important for companies using Google Ads, GA4 or remarketing. Without proper setup, you are measuring less completely and missing out on valuable data.
OMA helps assimilate Consent mode v2 into appropriate consent preferences. Don't have a cookie banner on your website yet? Then we set it up nicely with Cookieconfirm. That way your tracking stays technically strong and your marketing data better matches consent.
