Probably your answer to that question is: no. To find out which keywords cause which conversions, you need to go through three steps. In this article, I explain step by step how to go about this.

Step 1: Linking your website to Google Analytics

I actually expect you've already done that, but it's always possible you haven't. If so, I would say, link your website to Google Analytics today. Don't know how to do that? No problem, just click on one of the blogs below and install Google Analytics the way you feel comfortable:

Step 2: Link your website to Google Search Console

In fact, Google Search Console is a program, which allows you to view and track the presence of your website. In other words, in terms of SEO, it is one of Google's most important tools.

Step 2 is to read my article, called: 'Manual: Creating Google Search Console and adding your website correctly'.

(And no, you may not skip this step.)

Step 3: Install Keyword Hero

If you really want to know which keywords are driving your conversions, Keyword Hero is highly recommended. This tool links keyword data from Google Search Console to your Google Analytics account, giving you insight into what's working and what's not.

Installation is simple and only takes a few minutes. Want to know how to set up Keyword Hero? Then check out this blog where I explain step by step how to install Keyword Hero.

Time to figure out the converting keywords

Now you have Google Analytics, Search Console and Keyword Hero, but you still don't know how to figure out which keywords are doing well. So what should you do first?

Simple, the first thing you need to do now is to be patient. After 24 hours, you will be able to see in Keyword Hero exactly which keywords are converting and which are not. Where to find this information? I'll explain it to you below.

  1. Go to the Google Analytics website
  2. Login to the appropriate Google account
  3. Within the appropriate Google Analytics account, look for the property that begins with "Keyword Hero" and click on it.
  4. On the left side of the row, click "Acquisition," then "All Traffic," then "Channels.
  5. Then click on the 'Organic search' channel

And voila!

There you see all the keywords that people used to get to your website. If you look to the right of the table, you'll see the conversions and, for example, the conversion rate.

Google Analytics Keyword Hero

This is how Keyword Hero makes a difference

Although there are many tools that provide keyword data insight, such as Ahrefs, Semrush or Moz, I really like Keyword Hero the best. But why then?

Keyword Hero integrates directly with Google Analytics. That means you don't have to open separate dashboards or create complicated exports. Everything is just in one place.

Of course, the other tools have more extensive features, but for linking keywords to conversions in Google Analytics, Keyword Hero does exactly what you need.
