Usage article
Also called: utensil
A use item is a product that can be used for an extended period of time. Although the lifespan of use items may be limited by wear and tear, among other things, repeated use over a long period of time is possible. This is in contrast to consumables, which run out, bandage or contaminate, for example, and therefore can only be used once.
Examples of consumer goods include electronics, kitchen appliances, dishes, toothbrushes, clothing, tools, medical devices such as crutches, vehicles and reusable packaging (with or without a deposit).
With most consumer goods, the lifespan depends on the quality and the manner of use and maintenance. As soon as the time approaches when a consumer good has to be discarded, the need for a replacement purchase generally arises.
