These are the default options when you link the leadbot

Why choose GTM installation?

There are several ways to link Futy to your website, but we like to use Google Tag Manager for implementation.

The advantage is that you don't have to put an additional plugin on your website, nor do you need your developer or fiddle around in your website's code yourself.

Implementation via Google Tag Manager is easy, you have complete control, and you can also easily disconnect it again if needed.

Already convinced? Then let's get started.

Futy linking via Google Tag Manager

In order for the Futy leadbot to show up on the website, we need to link Futy to the website. For that, we need Google Tag Manager.

*Don't have a Google Tag Manager account and/or a Google Analytics account yet? In this blog we explain how you can quickly set this up yourself.

Step 1: Log in to your Futy account and go to "Installation"

Step 2: Copy the HTML code you see there.

Step 3: Log in to your Google Tag Manager account and create a new tag

Step 4: Create a custom HTML tag and copy the code you just copied into your tag. As a trigger, add the pages on which the Futy bot should be activated.

Step 5: Publish your container.

Futy events slip through to Google Analytics 4

If all went well, you now have the link between Google Tag Manager and Futy.io in place. So time to make sure the events are also reflected in Google Analytics 4.

Step 1: Go to the settings tab in your Futy account and find the paragraph Google Analytics.

Step 2: Enter your Tracking ID and check the bottom two options, advanced conversion events and interaction events. That's it!

Futy's different types of conversions

You can forward a total of 3 event types to Analytics.

1. Basic conversion events: All events fall into the same bin under the event futy_conversion. You then only see that a conversion occurred, but you don't know what kind of conversion. Sending a contact form, clicking on a phone number and sending whatsapp message, all fall under the same event.

2. Advanced conversion events: for each conversion, a detailed event is forwarded, indicating what type of conversion it is. For example, a whatsapp message gets the event futy_whatsapp_sent, a phone call futy_phone_called and a contact form futy_contact_form_submitted.

3. Interaction events: These events tell you more about what the visitor clicks on in the leadbot BEFORE the conversion takes place. By checking the interaction events you can see, for example, which buttons are clicked, how often the leadbot is opened and closed, and what interaction the visitor has with a calendar, for example.

Want to know exactly what name events come back under in Analytics? Then check out this Cheat Sheet.

Checking that everything is coming through properly

If all goes well, you now have everything set up correctly. Futy is loaded via Google Tag Manager and the events are automatically shot to Google Analytics. Time to check that everything is going well.

Step 1: Go to your Google Tag Manager account and open your website in preview mode.

Step 2: Open the Google Analytics 4 view in the debug environment.

Step 3: Use the futy leadbot on the website and check in Google Tag Manager what events are fired at what time.

If all goes well, you should now see several events returned. The interaction events like "reply_clicked" and the actual conversions like "phone_called".

Setting up your own conversions in Futy

Are the default labels not clear enough for your leadbot? For example, because you set up a new flow yourself? Then you can overwrite the event name.

Go to the conversion in Futy and in the "Conversion label" field enter the name of the event you want to fire at that time. If you leave the field blank the default event of Futy will be shot through, if you fill in the field then you overwrite the default event.

Futy custom conversion setting

Below is the example of the leadbot on our website. At the "do the CRO scan" button, we entered a custom conversion label.

When a visitor requests the CRO scan through the Futy leadbot, we see it reflected in Google Analytics. Check it out!
